Desconcerto creates analogue/mechanical audio recordings on the surfaces of discarded CDs. Using a catheter needle and a loudspeaker, spiral-shaped microgrooves are generated in a recording process similar to that of vinyl.
In parallel, a hand-cranked manual record player was built.
The project recorded the sounds of street vendors in the centre of Belo Horizonte for the exhibition Gambiólogos_Gambiarra in the Digital Age, Espaço Centoequatro, Belo Horizonte-Brasil in 2011 and urban legends from downtown São Paulo for the exhibition Virada Cultural Sesc Ipiranga, São Paulo-Brazil in 2013.
