Mapping of points within the planned city of Belo Horizonte from which the mountains can be seen. The area covered is the entire territory bounded by Avenida do Contorno, and the points, in turn, correspond to pedestrian routes. Almost all of the views are of the Serra do Curral mountain range, with very few exceptions relating to the Serra da Piedade mountain range. The mapping was carried out throughout 2019. The views presented are the schematic result of screen-printing work based on photographs taken with a 55mm fixed-focus lens, with the exception of those taken on the viaducts, which were produced in panoramic format. In total, 414 views are presented.

 

AS IT LASTS is a research project developed under the gaze of the mountainous landscape of Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It takes as its starting point the historical relationship between the city and its mountains, quarries, and hills.
