Flavia Regaldo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil – 1984) is a visual artist who lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. She holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia Art from the University of Lisbon and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
His poetics seek to give form to the invisible forces and tensions inherent in matter, considering rhythm and chaos through a gaze that traverses the micro and the macro and rethinks natural/social dichotomies.
His career in the arts began in 2009 and his works have always spanned different media such as photography, video, painting, sculpture and installation, presenting narratives that interconnect the works. Since 2020, he has been dedicating himself to engraving, with an emphasis on metal engraving and screen printing. Engraving is the central axis in an installation journey that draws on other visual and audio media.
The artist has participated in various solo and group exhibitions and artist residencies in both Europe and Brazil, and her work is currently represented by the Coletivo Amarelo gallery in Lisbon. Among her distinctions are: a residency project at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, funded by the Culture Moves Europe _ Creative Europe Award; a grant from the Pilar i Joan Miró Foundation for training at Joan Miró’s graphic studios at the Miró Mallorca Foundation; selection for the publication PEA_Portuguese Emerging Artists; and inclusion of her work in the Norlinda and José Lima collection in Portugal. In Brazil, she has received several scholarships and awards from Funarte, the National Arts Foundation.
